The Importance of Convergence Between Leadership, Strategy and Communications

This new study from Forbes Insights with 163 CEOs, senior strategists and communication professionals closely analysed the interdependence of strategy and communications in getting a strategy right and bringing it to a succesful result.

Among the key findings

- Senior management does not have a common definition of what strategy is ata conceptual level

- Management tends to be over optimistic about the success of strategies

- There are five common results for failure and 82% of failures are preventable

Why I'm Following the Disruption - Scott Anthony, MD Innosight

A central argument of this blog is that every company must grapple with the reality that their current business model has a finite life, which means seeking reinvention and transformation. Leaders, too, need to constantly think about how they can reinvent and transform themselves. My own transformation begins this month as I transition from running Innosight's consulting operations to head up Innosight Ventures, Innosight's incubation and investing arm, in Singapore. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to move from advising companies on issues of disruptive innovation to the true front line of disruption. Innosight Ventures has proven the most promising of Innosight's experiments. We set Innosight Ventures up a few years ago as a separate entity to incubate and invest in disruptive growth ventures. We very intentionally kept the business separate because of its distinct business model. In that time period Innosight Ventures created close to 100 business plans, tested about a dozen ideas in markets, and has gained traction with four ventures:

Push Beyond Barriers Like an Endurance Athlete

Steve Owens and his team coach endurance athletes – cyclists, triathletes, and runners from all over the world. His innovative, state-of-the-art training equipment measures athletes' heart rate, power output, and energy expenditures, as well as a score of bike computations, such as speed and distance. His team then creates customized training programs. What makes Owens work particularly innovative is that he incorporates "CNS scoring" into the data, which measures an athlete's physical, mental, and emotional stress. "No one really encompasses everything like we do," says Owens.
