The Darker Side of Creativity - Original Thinkers Can Be More Dishonest - Harvard Business Review

Professors Francesca Gino and Dan Ariely offer this controversial view of creative beahviour and thinking.

Creativity is a common aspiration for individuals, organizations, and societies. Here, however,
we test whether creativity increases dishonesty. We propose that a creative personality and
creativity primes promote individuals’ motivation to think outside the box and that this increased
motivation leads to unethical behavior.

He also is a master at using performance objectives to motivate frontline workers. This has turned out to be the most important quality in startup founders. We thought when we started Y Combinator that the most important quality would be intelligence. That's the myth in the Valley. And certainly you don't want founders to be stupid. But as long as you're over a certain threshold of intelligence, what matters most is determination. You're going to hit a lot of obstacles.
