The International Conference "Can creativity be measured?" produced by the European Commission on Education and Training offered an overview of the different ways of measuring creativity at national, regional and individual levels. As a first step towards tackling this challenge, Measuring Creativity looks at all these perspectives and provides a wide analysis of measuring specific aspects related to creativity. This site offers  a series of excellent articles on this intriguing and vexed questions.

Creativity & The Invisible Fence - Agnostic, Maybe

The invisible fence is a product that is designed to keep pets (like dogs & cats) within a set of boundaries without the need for building a physical barrier (e.g., a fence). The boundaries are set by a transmitted signal from either a buried wire or an above ground positioned object. The pets wear a collar which will give them a mild shock (*bzzzt*) when they approach the limits set by the owner. With a few days of training, the pet becomes familiar with their new limitations and will not venture past them. I think creativity in the workplace is sometimes given the same treatment. But minus training about the collar and boundaries part.

Study of artists' brain injuries hints at roots of creativity - Paul Jablow

In 1997, when she was 44, a massive stroke cost painter Katherine Sherwood the permanent use of her right hand. Today, the Bay Area artist is painting with her left hand, her career more successful than ever. Back in 1980, an aneurysm from a previously undiagnosed brain abnormality required surgery that completely wiped out noted jazz guitarist Pat Martino's musical memory. Surgeons told him he had been two hours away from death, put him to sleep, and removed 60 percent of his left temporal lobe. Playing with a computer and listening to his old recordings, Martino, who lives in South Philadelphia, taught himself to play again and has made more than a dozen albums. In 2004 he won the Downbeat magazine readers poll as "Guitarist of the Year."

How to turn data into a strategic asset - a creative view: Accentures 

Chances are, there are data gold mines buried among your company's most basic operations that could help you outperform the competition. Take Britain's Royal Shakespeare Company. A thorough examination of seven years' worth of ticket sales data allowed the RSC to sell more to existing customers and identify new audiences. Using analytics to look at names, addresses, performances attended and prices paid for tickets, the company developed a marketing program that increased the number of regular attendees at its showcase Stratford-upon-Avon location by more than 70 percent.
